About

Restaurants1 helps you find a place to eat when you already have something specific in mind: a rooftop table for an anniversary, a patio where the dog is welcome, a private room for a big group, or fresh seafood right on the water.

Most search tools handle “Italian near me” just fine, but they fall apart the moment your question gets specific. That gap is the whole reason this site exists. Every guide combines three things: the setting you want, the cuisine you are after, and the city you are in. So instead of scrolling through a hundred generic listings, you get a short, verified list of places that actually match.

Who is behind it

Restaurants1 is researched, written, and maintained by Ben Gutenberg. Every guide is his own research, built around one specific dining question and held to a documented verification standard rather than the usual marketing. You can read more about how the guides are made on Ben’s page and the how we verify page.

How we work

We are independent, and no restaurant pays to be listed. Every place is verified before it goes on the site and rechecked on a regular cycle, so the hours, the address, and the feature you came for are as accurate as we can keep them. You can read the full process on our how we verify page.

Where we focus

We build out mid-sized cities where this kind of specific, cross-referenced dining information is genuinely hard to find in one place, one city at a time, feature by feature and cuisine by cuisine.
